EMBL-EBI, with support from BlueRemediomics and BlueTools, is launching a new webinar series titled Exploring and Harnessing Marine Microbiomes for a Sustainable Blue Bioeconomy.
The series is aimed at researchers and professionals from academia, industry, and research infrastructures working in areas such as aquaculture, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, marine sampling, scientific data management, and bioinformatics platform development.
Running every Friday from 2 October to 13 November 2026 at 12:00 CET, each webinar will explore a topic relevant to marine microbiome bioinformatics. Sessions will feature short presentations from expert speakers, followed by an interactive Q&A discussion.

2 October: From hard drive to archive: submitting your data to make it findable and reusable
9 October: Reconstructing ocean life: metagenome-assembled genomes in marine research
16 October: Harnessing enzymatic functions: comparison of activity-based and sequence-based approaches
23 October: Ocean function and value: marine ecosystem mapping and services
30 October: High-throughput microbial discovery: interfacing droplet microfluidics with metagenomics
6 November: Designing sustainable systems: sustainability assessment of bio-based products and processes
13 November: Science communication: dissemination of scientific results to a variety of audiences
Registration is free, although participants must register separately for each webinar they wish to attend.
